Run for Office
(Get in the Game)

People decide to run for office for a variety of reasons. Some are driven by a desire to create a better future for their children. Others have experienced challenges that have given them a unique perspective they know is needed in leadership. Some feel their voices—and the voices of their communities—are not being represented by those currently in power.

Unfortunately, not everyone runs for the right reasons. Some view public office as a personal stepping stone, a way to advance their careers or boost their egos. If that’s your motivation, I urge you to reconsider. We already have enough politicians who prioritize themselves over the people they serve. But if your reason for running is rooted in a genuine commitment to making a difference, it’s essential that you clearly define your “why.”

Campaigning is a journey filled with highs and lows. There will be moments of doubt when you question whether you made the right decision. People will criticize you—sometimes harshly. In those moments, your purpose must be your anchor. If your reason for running is clear and deeply held, it will guide you through the challenges and keep you focused on what truly matters.
