Today Was a Day: The Fight for Education in America

Today was a day.

A day when we watched our elitist president stand at the helm of a government that no longer sees education as a pathway to opportunity, but as a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. A day when the very institutions meant to uplift working families and give children a fighting chance at success were stripped down, dismantled, and tossed aside in favor of a system built only for the wealthy.

A day when privileged governors stood and cheered as an institution designed to open doors for all was marked for closure. Public education—the foundation of progress, the great equalizer—was never meant to be for everyone, they reminded us. It was meant for the elite. It was never intended to reach those who need it most.

A day when men, long past their own school years, decided the fate of future generations. Men who benefited from the very system they now seek to destroy. Men who sit in their comfortable offices, wielding power that was handed to them, making choices that will deny the next generation the same opportunities they once had.

A day when America looked at its young people and said, “Your future is not our priority.”

Today was a day.

And now, we have a choice.

We can post our frustrations, we can share our anger, and we can like and comment on social media. But posting alone won’t fix what’s broken. Words alone won’t stop the attack on public education.

But organizing will.

Planning will.

Standing together will.

Because education is not a privilege—it is a right. A right that must be defended.

We won’t sit back while they erase opportunity. We won’t allow them to strip our schools of funding, cancel student loan programs, and tell our children that their dreams come second to the pockets of the wealthy.

📢 When you’re ready, join us on the Westside. We’re not just resisting—we’re rebuilding. We’re organizing. We’re taking action. Because education is worth fighting for. And we refuse to let today be the beginning of the end.

The question is, will you stand with us?
